This year in Room 10 it is going to be a busy year because we have the year 7/8 camp to Waitomo caves and the year 6's are going to camp Tutira. But I'm sure there is many more things we are going to be doing.
Last Friday we went to Napier to see the navy band. They were an entertaining band to watch. There was all sorts of instruments like the trombone and the French horn, a couple of clarinets and much more. After the navy band we went for a walk through Napier to see all the people dressed in art deco and of coarse the cars! Once we got down by the sound shell Mr Easson took a photo of the whole school with panoramic view. A little while later we finally got to the park. We had some lunch then we were allowed to go play. In the park there was a couple of new things like the slide which there is no ladder or stairs to get up to. You had to climb the wall or a twisty thing, there was a red climbing tower that was made of rope, these blocks that had climbing stones on them and a couple more. Most of the time we were at the park I was playing on the swings and on the slide. It got very hot. Luckily when we arrived back to school we had the chance to have a swim. Of course I had a swim. Why wouldn't you? It was very hot. I thought the pool was going to be squishy and hard to move around, because our whole school was swimming. But it wasn't squishy or hard to move around at all.
Monday was the day of the school swimming sports. Sophie and I were doing the scoring of the races. I was doing the 1st 2nd and 3rd and Sophie was doing the house points. It was really annoying watching people swim because it was hot and we had no shade to cover our bodies. But the best thing is that I still got into the Inter school swimming sports.
Technology was finally here. I was excited to go. Technology is on a Thursday morning at Hastings Intermediate. This term for Tech me and the rest of the year sevens are doing Graphics and Design with Ms Gordon. Ms Gordon is a cool teacher she is nice. On Thursday we didn't do much art we did a K.W.L chart. The K stands for what we know, the W stands for what we want to know and the L means what we have learnt. We didn't fill in that part of the chart because we had only just started tech. Another thing we did was talk about the rules of the art room and made a Graphics and Design title page in our scrapbooks, that Ms Kinney kindly bought us. Once we got back from Technology the year 7/8's got to have a late morning tea.
At 11.00 am I had drumming lessons with Chris Smith but we called him Mr Smith. First we learnt a thing called single sticking which is when you hit something once with each stick, then there was double sticking is when you hit something twice with one stick at a time. Another thing we learnt was called para-diddle which is when you start off at your right hand and go right, left, right, right, left, right, left, left and so on. The last thing we learnt was para-diddle-diddle which is when you go right, left, right, right, left, left and so on.
In the afternoon on Thursday we had electives. I did Speech and Drama with Mr Costello. My favorite thing about speech and drama was the miming. The instructions were to get a piece if paper and it shall have a scene type of thing on it. My scene was to get a box get a light bulb out of the box then get a chair/ladder and screw the light bulb in. Once the light bulb is in step off the chair/ladder and switch the light on and check if the light bulb works. I was glad after I finished my little scene because Mr Costello said it was good.
I cant wait for the rest of the year ahead!
